A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to a report on Hispanic youth offenders. BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 58, Family Code, is amended by adding Section 58.1121 to read as follows: Sec. 58.1121. REPORT ON HISPANIC YOUTH OFFENDERS. The Texas Juvenile Probation Commission shall quarterly publish a report that contains the following statistical information relating to Hispanic children for the preceding quarter: (1) the number of Hispanic children referred to a juvenile court; (2) the number of Hispanic children transferred to a district court or criminal district court for criminal proceedings; (3) the number of Hispanic children committed to the Texas Youth Commission, placed on probation, or discharged without disposition; and (4) the recidivism rate for Hispanic children. SECTION 2. The first report required by Section 58.1121, Family Code, as added by this Act, is due on or after October 1, 2005, for the quarter beginning July 1, 2005. SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2005.
