A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT

relating to county jail population reports.                                   
	BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:                        
	SECTION 1.  Section 511.0101, Government Code, is amended by 
adding Subsection (c) to read as follows:
	(c)  A county that submits a report under Subsection (a) is 
not required to include a person who is a participant in a work 
release program under Chapter 42, Code of Criminal Procedure, in 
its report of the number of prisoners confined in the county jail.
	SECTION 2.  The change in law made by this Act applies to any 
report required by Section 511.0101, Government Code, to be 
submitted to the Commission on Jail Standards on or after the 
effective date of this Act.
	SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2005.
