A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT

relating to longevity pay for certain campus peace officers 
employed by a state institution of higher education or public 
technical institute.
	BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:                        
	SECTION 1.  Subchapter E, Chapter 51, Education Code, is 
amended by adding Section 51.2031 to read as follows:
	Sec. 51.2031.  LONGEVITY PAY FOR CAMPUS PEACE OFFICERS.  
Notwithstanding Subchapter D, Chapter 659, Government Code, or any 
other law, each peace officer commissioned under Section 51.203 by 
a state institution of higher education or public technical 
institute is entitled to receive, in addition to any other 
compensation and benefits the peace officer is entitled to receive, 
longevity pay in a monthly amount that is not less than $4 for each 
year of service with the institution or institute, as applicable, 
up to and including 25 years.
	SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2005.
