A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to prohibiting the use of state money for research involving the destruction of human embryos. BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: SECTION 1. Subtitle H, Title 2, Health and Safety Code, is amended by adding Chapter 168 to read as follows:
CHAPTER 168. USE OF HUMAN CELLS AND TISSUES
Sec. 168.001. PROHIBITION ON USE OF STATE MONEY FOR EMBRYONIC STEM CELL RESEARCH. A person may not use state money for research involving the destruction of human embryos, including embryonic stem cell research, or to support research involving the destruction of human embryos. SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2005.
