A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to the transfer of surplus data processing equipment to
the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Section 497.012(a), Government Code, is amended
to read as follows:
(a) The department may receive surplus or salvage data
processing equipment from a state agency under Chapter 2175 or from
any political subdivision that chooses to send the equipment to the
department. Acceptance by the board is not necessary for receipt by
the department of equipment under this section.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
Act takes effect September 1, 2005.
