A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to the qualifications of a third-party plumbing inspector hired by a municipality. BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: SECTION 1. Subchapter K, Chapter 1301, Occupations Code, is amended by adding Section 1301.554 to read as follows: Sec. 1301.554. QUALIFICATIONS OF THIRD-PARTY PLUMBING INSPECTOR. (a) A third-party plumbing inspector hired under a contract or similar arrangement by a municipality must be a journeyman plumber or master plumber. (b) This section does not apply to a plumbing inspector employed by the municipality. SECTION 2. Section 1301.554, Occupations Code, as added by this Act, applies only to a plumbing inspector hired on or after the effective date of this Act. A plumbing inspector hired before that date is governed by the law in effect when the plumbing inspector was hired, and the former law is continued in effect for that purpose. SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2005.
