A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT

relating to the correction of registration records.                           
	BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:                        
	SECTION 1.  Section 15.022, Election Code, is amended by 
adding Subsections (c)-(e) to read as follows:
	(c)  The registrar shall ensure that all corrections 
required under Subsection (a) have been made not later than the 15th 
day before the date of:
		(1)  an election held on a uniform election date;                      
		(2)  a runoff election resulting from an election held 
under Subdivision (1); or
		(3)  a primary or primary runoff election.                             
	(d)  The registrar shall request information under 
Subsection (b) so that the registrar may receive the information on 
or after the 30th day before the date of an election described by 
Subsection (c).
	(e)  The registrar shall notify the secretary of state and 
the county clerk each time corrections are made as required by 
Subsection (c).  The registrar shall notify the county chair of each 
political party holding a primary election in the county when 
corrections are made under Subsection (c) before a primary or 
primary runoff election.
	SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2005.
