A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to security requirements for certain bail bond sureties. BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: SECTION 1. Section 1704.203(a), Occupations Code, is amended to read as follows: (a) A [Except as provided by Subsection (d), a] license holder who holds a license originally issued before September 1, 1999, may [not] execute, and a person may [not] accept from the license holder, a bail bond that, in the aggregate with other bail bonds executed by the license holder in any [that] county, results in a total amount that exceeds 10 times the value of the security deposited or executed by the license holder under Section 1704.160. SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this Act takes effect September 1, 2005.
