A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT

relating to the distribution of proceeds from a citation issued by a 
school district peace officer.
	BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:                        
	SECTION 1.  Subchapter C, Chapter 37, Education Code, is 
amended by adding Section 37.0811 to read as follows:
	Sec. 37.0811.  DISTRIBUTION OF PROCEEDS FROM CITATION ISSUED 
BY SCHOOL DISTRICT PEACE OFFICER.  The clerk of a court shall 
transfer the proceeds of a fee or fine paid by a student in response 
to a citation issued by a peace officer commissioned by a school 
district to the district that employs the peace officer.  The court 
clerk may withhold an amount of the proceeds necessary to pay any 
court administration costs relating to the citation.
	SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2005.
