A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT

relating to vision and dental benefits provided under the state 
child health plan.
	BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:                        
	SECTION 1.  Section 62.151, Health and Safety Code, is 
amended by adding Subsection (g) to read as follows:
	(g)  The covered benefits provided under the child health 
plan must include vision benefits and dental benefits that, at a 
minimum, are equivalent to the vision and dental benefits provided 
under the plan before September 1, 2003.
	SECTION 2.  If before implementing any provision of Section 
62.151(g), Health and Safety Code, as added by this Act, a state 
agency determines that a waiver or authorization from a federal 
agency is necessary for implementation of that provision, the 
agency affected by the provision shall request the waiver or 
authorization and may delay implementing that provision until the 
waiver or authorization is granted.
	SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2005.
