A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to the maximum number of registered voters that may be contained in a county election precinct. BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: SECTION 1. Section 42.006(d), Election Code, is amended to read as follows: (d) In a county in which a voting system has been adopted for use in the general election for state and county officers, the maximum number of registered voters a precinct may contain is 5,000[: [(1) 3,000, in a county with a population of 250,000 or more; [(2) 4,000, in a county with a population of 175,000 or more but less than 250,000; and [(3) 5,000, in a county with a population of less than 175,000]. SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2005.
