A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to filing requirements for certain candidates for the
board of trustees of a junior college district.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Section 130.044, Education Code, is amended by
adding Subsection (g) to read as follows:
(g) The board of trustees of a district with a population
greater than one million may require that an application filed
under Subsection (d) be accompanied by a filing fee not to exceed
$200 as determined by the board or, instead of the filing fee, a
petition signed by a number of registered voters of the district not
to exceed 200 as determined by the board.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2005.
