A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT

relating to the designation of a school entrance as a stop 
intersection.    
	BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:                        
	SECTION 1.  Section 544.003, Transportation Code, is amended 
by adding Subsection (d) to read as follows:
	(d)  An intersection of an entrance to a public or private 
elementary or secondary school and a highway shall be designated as 
a stop intersection by:
		(1)  the Texas Transportation Commission if the highway 
is a state or county highway; or
		(2)  the local authority that has jurisdiction of the 
highway if the highway is a highway other than a state or county 
highway.
	SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2005.
