A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT

relating to interlocal cooperation contracts.                                 
	BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:                        
	SECTION 1.  Sec. 791.001, Government Code is amended to by 
adding:           
	(4)  "Local government" means a:                                               
		(A)  county, municipality, special district, public 
junior college districts, local workforce development, or other 
political subdivisions of this state or another state;
		(B)  local government corporation created under 
Subchapter D, Chapter 431, Transportation Code;
		(C)  political subdivision corporation created under 
Chapter 204, Local Government Code; or
		(D)  combination of two or more entities described by 
paragraph (A), (B), or (C).
	(5)  "Political subdivision" includes any corporate and 
political entity organized under state law.
	SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect immediately if it receives 
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as 
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution.  If this 
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this 
Act takes effect September 1, 2005.
