A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to protection of lienholders with respect to wage liens.             
	BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:                        
	SECTION 1.  Section 61.0825, Labor Code, is amended to read 
as follows:      
	Sec. 61.0825.  PRIORITY OF LIEN.  A lien established under 
this subchapter is superior to any other lien on the same property, 
with the exception of a lien for ad valorem taxes.  Any owner or 
lienholder of record must be provided written notice of a wage lien 
by certified mail or registered mail addressed to the owner or 
lienholder's address set forth in the recorded documents, and to 
its registered agent if one has been appointed, and an opportunity 
of ninety (90) days thereafter to pay the wage lien or to file suit 
contesting the lien.
	SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2005.
