A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to the statutory probate courts of El Paso County. BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: SECTION 1. Section 25.0731(b), Government Code, is amended to read as follows: (b) El Paso County has the following [one] statutory probate courts: (1) [court,] the Probate Court No. 1 of El Paso County, Texas; and (2) the Probate Court No. 2 of El Paso County, Texas. SECTION 2. Section 25.0733, Government Code, is amended by adding Subsection (b) to read as follows: (b) The Probate Court No. 2 of El Paso County has primary responsibility for mental illness proceedings and for all administration related to mental illness proceedings, including budget preparation, staff management, and the adoption of administrative policy. The Probate Court No. 1 of El Paso County has secondary responsibility for mental illness proceedings. SECTION 3. The Probate Court No. 2 of El Paso County, Texas, is created September 1, 2005. SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 2005.
