CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The Bowl Championship Series (BCS) was created to
provide a national championship game featuring the top two college
football teams in the country and a consensus national champion,
but it has failed to do so for three out of the last five years; and
WHEREAS, The recent decision of the Associated Press to
disallow the unauthorized use of its poll by the BCS, citing that
the "BCS has damaged and continues to damage AP's reputation for
honesty and integrity" by association, illustrates the widespread
contempt for the BCS system and presents a timely opportunity to
redress the problems; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the 79th Legislature of the State of Texas
hereby express support for the abolition of the Bowl Championship
Series.
