CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with joyful times, loving
memories, and meaningful accomplishments may console and comfort
the family and friends of G. W. Worth, Jr., of San Antonio, who
passed away on July 24, 2004, at the age of 64; and
WHEREAS, Born on September 25, 1939, in Birmingham, Alabama,
Bill Worth attended Northside High School and graduated from Texas
A&M University, where he studied business and was a member of the
Corps of Cadets; and
WHEREAS, After college, he returned to San Antonio and worked
with his uncles in the family business, McDonough Bros.; he became
president and chief executive officer of its successor, Redland
Worth Corporation, and in 1990, he went on to found Worth
Enterprises, a prosperous real estate development company, and,
five years later, Medallion Homes, a major San Antonio homebuilding
company; and
WHEREAS, A devoted family man and valued member of his
community, Mr. Worth belonged to the University United Methodist
Church, but he gave generously to churches of all denominations as
well as to numerous charitable causes; and
WHEREAS, This esteemed gentleman will long be remembered for
his compassion and his generosity, and his spirit will long endure
in the hearts of those individuals who were fortunate enough to have
known him; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the 79th Legislature of the State of Texas
hereby pay tribute to the life of G. W. Worth, Jr., and extend
sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his beloved wife,
Darolyn Worth; to his daughter, Lisa Suzanne Worth and her husband,
Thomas Craig Glendenning; to his son, William McDonough Worth and
his wife, Mary Martinez Worth; to his stepdaughter-in-law, Karen
Magaro and her husband, Dan; to his sister-in-law, Beverly Estep
and her husband, David; to his first cousin, Alice Irvin and her
husband, Larry; to his grandchildren, Morgan Paige Lucas, Garrett
Rex Lucas, Krystal Dawn Butler Magaro, Carl William Butler Magaro,
Kyle Daniel Magaro, Kellie Jordan Kost, G. W. "Trey" Worth III,
William "Billy" Martinez Worth, and Julian McDonough Worth; and to
his other relatives and many friends; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
Representatives and Senate adjourn this day, they do so in memory of
G. W. Worth, Jr.
