CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, On March 23, 2005, a delegation from the Girl Scouts
of America is gathering at the State Capitol, and this occasion
provides a fitting opportunity to recognize the efforts of this
outstanding organization; and
WHEREAS, Benefitting countless young Texans each year, Girl
Scouts of America offers a continuum of age-appropriate programs
and activities based on the needs and interests of girls in
kindergarten through 12th grade and seeks to give its participants
learning experiences that promote the development of strong
leadership skills and civic responsibility; and
WHEREAS, The Lone Star State is fortunate to have 19 Girl
Scout councils serving more than 200,000 girl members and more than
70,000 adult members; and
WHEREAS, Young women who are influenced by scouting will one
day be managing corporations, leading the country, and raising
tomorrow's children, and Girl Scouts of America plays a vital role
in equipping these young women for their futures; and
WHEREAS, The historic Capitol, with its impressive rotunda
and distinctive pink granite facade, is an ideal setting for young
and old alike to discover the rich heritage that is Texas and to
gain insight into the workings of our state legislature; it is a
pleasure to honor the visiting members of the Girl Scouts of America
as they commemorate Texas Girl Scout Legislative Day; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the 79th Legislature of the State of Texas
hereby designate March 23, 2005, as Texas Girl Scout Legislative
Day at the State Capitol and extend to all participants best wishes
for a memorable visit.
