CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The plentiful natural resources of Texas distinguish the state from other regions of the country and are integral to much of the food, energy, transportation, medicine, and recreation available to all Texans; and WHEREAS, Since its settlement, the state has been shaped in its development by the relationship between the land and its inhabitants, and Texas has gained significant economic rewards from the rich variety of indigenous resources found within its borders; and WHEREAS, The Lone Star State is renowned for the variety of its flora, fauna, and stunning landscapes, and these features have added much to its character and beauty; and WHEREAS, The Natural Resources Foundation of Texas strives to heighten public awareness and promote good stewardship and conservation of these precious resources; focusing on agriculture, extractive minerals, forestry, water, and wildlife, the nonprofit foundation is a reliable source of information about practices and policies that will build economically and ecologically sound communities; and WHEREAS, The preservation and management of the attributes that make Texas unique are essential to ensure their continued abundance for the enjoyment of future generations; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the 79th Legislature of the State of Texas hereby designate May 2005 as Texas Natural Resources Month and encourage its observance by citizens throughout the state.
