H.C.R. No. 147


HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Each year, the blooming of Texas wildflowers along our state's roadways reminds us yet again of why we are proud to be Texans as we share in the joy of viewing this beautiful rite of passage; like the striking flower for which she is named, a new Bluebonnet Queen is selected annually to represent our state, and this year's deserving recipient is Kathryn Patricia Beal of Midland; and WHEREAS, The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Barry Beal, Jr., Ms. Beal is currently an undergraduate at Southern Methodist University, where she enjoys participating on the sailing team and is a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority; while attending Trinity School in Midland, she earned a listing in Who's Who Among American High School Students and was active in choir, Bible study, and theater; a valued member of the varsity track and junior varsity basketball teams, she also served as captain and UCA All Star of her cheerleading squad and as a team captain and state medalist in golf; and WHEREAS, In addition to pursuing her scholastic and extracurricular interests, this hardworking young woman has devoted her time, talents, and resources to many worthwhile organizations and projects, including Loved Ones of Prisoners, the Soup Kitchen, and Casa de Amigos; and WHEREAS, Ms. Beal was selected from a field of lovely, intelligent contestants for her exceptional poise and natural charm, and her impressive record of achievement surely heralds a bright and rewarding future; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the 79th Legislature of the State of Texas hereby congratulate Kathryn Patricia Beal on being crowned the 2005 Bluebonnet Queen and extend to her best wishes for continued success and happiness in all her endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Beal as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives and Senate.
