CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, James M. Alsup of Midland is deservedly being honored for his lifelong commitment to philanthropy by the Permian Basin Area Foundation, and this occasion provides a fitting opportunity to reflect on his myriad achievements; and WHEREAS, This esteemed attorney specializes in contracts, corporate finance, acquisitions, real estate, probate, and trust law at Lynch, Chappell & Alsup, the firm he leads as president; a life fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation, he has served on the State Bar board of directors, and he is a former director of the Texas Young Lawyers Association and a former president of the Midland County Bar Association; he is also a popular author, speaker, and panelist; and WHEREAS, After serving in the U.S. Army, Mr. Alsup earned degrees in business administration and law from The University of Texas; he is a longtime member of the Midland community, and his dedication to area residents is evidenced by his work with numerous organizations, including the Permian Basin Area Foundation, Memorial Hospital and Medical Center, the Midland Chamber of Commerce, United Way, High Sky Children's Ranch, Family Services of Midland, the Midland Heart Association, the Midland-Odessa Symphony and Chorale, and the Midland Arts Assembly; and WHEREAS, Supported by his loving wife, Sandra, and their two sons, Devin and Jeffrey, Jim Alsup has substantially advanced many worthy causes in the Permian Basin through his generosity over the years, and his charitable and civic endeavors have contributed greatly to the betterment of the community; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the 79th Legislature of the State of Texas hereby honor James M. Alsup for his philanthropy and commend him for his civic engagement and leadership; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Alsup as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives and Senate.
