HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Austin will host global leaders in the field of information technology for the 15th World Congress on Information Technology (WCIT) to be held May 1 through 5, 2006; and WHEREAS, A biennial event, the WCIT brings together leaders from the arenas of business, government, and academia to promote the exchange of policies, ideas, and technologies in an effort to positively affect economic and social development; and WHEREAS, Some 2,000 thought leaders and decision-makers will attend this event to discuss current global policy issues and standards, as well as future technology developments and the implications of those innovations; and WHEREAS, The contributions of these knowledgeable and influential individuals will have far-reaching impact, affecting business growth and revenue, job development and creation, and advances in research and education; and WHEREAS, Residents of the city of Austin and the State of Texas are honored to be a part of the world's premier information technology forum, for this important and influential event will further establish the Lone Star State's status as one of the 21st century's leaders in information technology; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the 79th Legislature of the State of Texas hereby welcome the participants and organizers of the 15th World Congress on Information Technology to Austin and extend best wishes for great success to all those who have contributed to this noteworthy event.
