H.C.R. No. 179
HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The passing of Patsy Brulte Kemp of Paris on
December 22, 2004, at the age of 81, deeply saddened the family and
friends of this beloved woman; and
WHEREAS, A native Texan, Mrs. Kemp was born May 4, 1923, in
Brookston; she graduated from Paris High School and went on to
attend Paris Training School for Registered Nurses; and
WHEREAS, This respected healthcare professional helped to
open the medical department of the Campbell's Soup Company plant in
Paris, ultimately retiring as manager; she was a member of the Texas
Nurses Association, American Nurses Association, and National
Industrial Nurses Association; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Kemp was a highly regarded resident in her
community; a member of the Paris Golf and Country Club, she was the
first woman to serve on its board of directors; she also was a
member of the Ladies Golf Association; and
WHEREAS, She attended First United Methodist Church, where
she and her husband, Henry, served as counselors for the senior high
department; and
WHEREAS, Though Patsy Kemp's passing has left a void in the
lives of those who knew and loved her, her spirit will continue to
live on in the hearts of the many people whose lives she touched;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the 79th Legislature of the State of Texas
hereby honor the life of Patsy Brulte Kemp and extend deepest
sympathy to the members of her family: to her daughters, Patricia
Ann Shipman and her husband, Nelson, and Vicki Lynn Carney and her
husband, Larry; to her grandchildren, Kolby Shipman and his wife,
Jennifer, Misty Shipman, Michael Carney, and Brett Carney; to her
great-grandchildren, Emma Joy Shipman and Samuel Joe Shipman; to
her sisters, Joyce Alspaugh and Doris Park; and to her other
relatives and many friends; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
Representatives and Senate adjourn this day, they do so in memory of
Patsy Brulte Kemp.
