H.C.R. No. 204
HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, On May 20, 2005, citizens of Hopkins County will
celebrate George Law Day in recognition of this esteemed
gentleman's selection as Sulphur Springs Kiwanis Layperson of the
Year by the Golden K and Sulphur Springs Kiwanis Clubs; and
WHEREAS, A retired educator and administrator, Mr. Law
devoted more than 20 years of his life to working with young people
in the Sulphur Springs and Como-Pickton school districts; during
his tenure with Sulphur Springs, he served as Kiwanis Key Club
advisor, faithfully advancing the charitable and civic efforts of
the Kiwanis Club; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Law is a longtime member and trustee of First
United Methodist Church in Sulphur Springs and has served on the
church building committee and as president of the Messengers' Class
and the Methodist Men; he has also been a strong supporter of the
Boy Scouts of America for more than 35 years; and
WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Law has received the
support of his loving wife, Barbara, with whom he has shared many
happy times, and the couple are admired for encouraging and
instilling a positive work ethic in their children and
grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, George Law's commitment to his family, his church,
and the young people of Hopkins County is most admirable,
demonstrating his generosity of spirit and his strength of
character, and his noteworthy efforts have earned him the respect
and admiration of his friends, family, and fellow citizens; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the 79th Legislature of the State of Texas
hereby congratulate George Law on his selection as Sulphur Springs
Kiwanis Layperson of the Year and extend best wishes to him for
continued success and happiness in all his endeavors; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Law as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives and Senate.
