A JOINT RESOLUTION

proposing a constitutional amendment to authorize a business entity 
to conduct sweepstakes for its customers.
	BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:                       
	SECTION 1.  Section 47, Article III, Texas Constitution, is 
amended by adding Subsection (f) to read as follows:
	(f)  Notwithstanding Subsection (a), the Legislature by 
general law may authorize a business entity to conduct a 
sweepstakes or other prize promotion that is limited to persons 
doing business with or making a purchase from the entity.
	SECTION 2.  This proposed constitutional amendment shall be 
submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 8, 2005.  
The ballot shall be printed to permit voting for or against the 
proposition:  "The constitutional amendment authorizing a business 
entity to conduct a sweepstakes for its customers."
