R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Houston Minority Business Council is hosting EXPO 2005, the Lone Star State's largest minority business development trade fair, on September 15, 2005, at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston; and WHEREAS, The event helps major corporations identify proven minority suppliers and disseminate information about how to conduct business with their companies; simultaneously, the fair invites minority businesses to discover contracting opportunities with larger corporations and government agencies; and WHEREAS, This year's keynote speaker is Dr. Melvin Gravely II, an expert on the subjects of entrepreneurship and business development; he is the author of six books, including The Lost Art of Entrepreneurship and When Black and White Make Green: The Next Evolution of Business and Race; and WHEREAS, EXPO 2005 is a successful trade fair that provides invaluable resources for minority businesses, corporations, government agencies, and educational and financial institutions, and it is a pleasure to recognize its contributions to the economic vitality of Texas; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby recognize EXPO 2005 and extend to all its participants sincere best wishes for a productive and successful event; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the Houston Minority Business Council as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
