R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, On November 4, 2004, the Katy Independent School 
District celebrated the dedication of Beckendorff Junior High 
School, an event demonstrating the district's continued commitment 
to serving the citizens of Fort Bend County; and
	WHEREAS, Opened in August 2004, Beckendorff Junior High 
School was built in response to Katy ISD's rapid growth from an 
influx of families drawn to the Houston area by jobs in the oil and 
technology industries; and
	WHEREAS, The school is named after the Beckendorff family, 
who helped to establish the district's first school in 1896 and 
whose family members and descendants have served on the board of 
trustees for Katy schools for more than 100 years; and
	WHEREAS, Under the able leadership of principal David Truitt, 
this outstanding new school will be a source of tremendous benefit 
to area young people as it will surely give them a strong foundation 
on which to build; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas 
Legislature hereby commemorate the dedication of Beckendorff 
Junior High School and extend sincere best wishes to all those 
associated with this fine new school; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for the school as an expression of high regard by the Texas 
House of Representatives.
