H.R. No. 19 



R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, Christy Ruder of Willie Brown Elementary School in 
Mansfield earned a National Semiconductor Internet Innovator Award 
in 2004; and
	WHEREAS, Since 1997, this prestigious accolade has 
recognized teachers from Texas, California, and Maine for creating 
innovative programs using the Internet and has rewarded these 
resourceful educators with $10,000 cash awards; and
	WHEREAS, One of only 13 educators honored in 2004, Ms. Ruder 
developed a project called "Community Authors," in which students 
employed the use of NetMeeting, interactive surveys, and class 
discussions to review their favorite books and to communicate with 
local writers; and
	WHEREAS, Exemplifying the highest ideals of her profession, 
Ms. Ruder has significantly contributed to the field of teaching 
with her inventive and effective use of technology in the 
classroom, and it is a pleasure to commend this esteemed educator on 
her achievement; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas 
Legislature hereby congratulate Christy Ruder on her receipt of the 
National Semiconductor Internet Innovator Award and extend to her 
sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for Ms. Ruder as an expression of high regard by the Texas 
House of Representatives.
