R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, A golden wedding anniversary is a special milestone
for all couples, but for Bill and Ann Walton of The Woodlands, it is
truly a testament to unconditional love and hope; and
WHEREAS, The couple were married on Christmas Eve of 1954 in
the groom's family home in McLeod, a small farming community on the
border of Texas and Louisiana; Mr. Walton's mother, affectionately
known as "Grandma Walton," played host to the wintry country
wedding, which occurred after a year of courtship and during the
groom's brief leave from his duties in the U.S. Army; and
WHEREAS, During their five decades together, Bill and Ann
Walton raised two sons and a daughter, and time spent together has
always been the most important expression of love for this
close-knit family; later in life, Mrs. Walton was met with a series
of seemingly insurmountable health challenges, but with faith, the
enduring love and support of her husband, and the unwavering
devotion of her children and sisters, she has persevered and
maintained an unshakable optimism that reflects an extraordinary
strength and determination; and
WHEREAS, This devoted couple's commitment to each other is a
continuing source of inspiration and joy to all those dear to them,
and it is indeed a privilege to share in their inspiring love story;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby commemorate the 50th wedding anniversary of Bill
and Ann Walton and congratulate them on this memorable event; and,
be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Walton as an expression of high regard by
the Texas House of Representatives.
