                                                                  H.R. No. 66 



R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, John Price has deservedly been named Man of the Year 
by the Sweeny Chamber of Commerce; and
	WHEREAS, The Man of the Year award was created to honor Sweeny 
citizens who have made significant contributions to their 
community, and Mr. Price has long been committed to improving, 
developing, and enriching the lives of others; and
	WHEREAS, He has devoted much time to the young people of his 
hometown as the Youth Minister of the Sweeny Baptist Church and as 
the stat keeper for the Sweeny Bulldogs; he also serves the greater 
community as a board member of the Sweeny Chamber of Commerce and a 
choir and missionary leader in his church; and
	WHEREAS, This compassionate gentleman demonstrates his 
genuine concern for others by performing pro bono repairs for the 
elderly and by donating his time and equipment to build wheelchair 
ramps for the disabled; and
	WHEREAS, In addition, Mr. Price has been a driving force 
behind Sweeny United, a nonprofit organization that has shown what 
can be accomplished when people give freely of themselves in behalf 
of their fellow man; and
	WHEREAS, John Price's many worthwhile endeavors have made him 
truly worthy of the recognition bestowed on him by his community, 
and it is a pleasure to honor him at this time; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas 
Legislature hereby congratulate John Price on being named Man of 
the Year by the Sweeny Chamber of Commerce and commend him for his 
dedicated civic service and humanitarian endeavors; and, be it 
further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for Mr. Price as an expression of high regard by the Texas 
House of Representatives.
