R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The centennial of one's birth is truly an occasion for celebration, and on January 27, 2005, Juanita Letha Hicks Lee is being honored at a party hosted by her fellow congregants of Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church in Dallas; and WHEREAS, A native Texan, she was born on January 27, 1905, in Kilgore, to John Henry Hicks and Carrie E. Kellum Hicks, and grew up in a large, close-knit family in the company of six sisters and three brothers; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Lee attended West Point School in Kilgore and went on to work for M. J. Brooks and Armour & Company; she moved to Fort Worth in the late 1920s and became a Dallasite in 1930; and WHEREAS, Since joining the congregation of Mount Moriah in 1960, this lovely lady has shared her wisdom and generous spirit with generations of fellow worshippers, and she is treasured by an ever-growing circle of loved ones and admirers; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby warmly congratulate Juanita Letha Hicks Lee on the momentous milestone of her 100th birthday and extend to her heartfelt best wishes for continued happiness and good fortune; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mrs. Lee as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
