R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, On January 24 and 25, 2005, dedicated health care professionals from Catholic hospitals across the state are gathering in Austin for the annual conference of the Catholic Health Association of Texas, and this event represents an ideal opportunity to reflect on the outstanding work done by the organization's members; and WHEREAS, The Catholic hospitals that make up the organization are a vital and valued component of the state's nonprofit health care system, offering a full range of top-flight medical treatment to Texans from every walk of life; and WHEREAS, These institutions are likewise a boon to the Lone Star State's economy, providing welcome career opportunities in the communities they serve, and in many counties Catholic hospitals are among the largest employers; and WHEREAS, Given the profound impact of hospitals on their communities, it is imperative that they be guided by wise and thoughtful counsel, and the Catholic Health Association is indeed fortunate to have ample access to this resource in its talented board of trustees, which includes chair John Brindley, past chair Tom Permetti, secretary and treasurer Patrick Carrier, Cynthia Colbert, Brother Richard Daly, Reed Edmundson, Jonathan Ford, Mary Elizabeth Jackson, Karen R. Johnson, Edward W. Myers, and Dean M. Terrebonne; and WHEREAS, For more than a century, the Catholic hospitals of Texas have ably served many people in need, and their incalculable contributions to the health and well-being of countless Texans are truly deserving of great respect; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby honor the Catholic Health Association of Texas on the occasion of its annual conference and recognize Catholic hospitals for their longstanding service to the citizens of this state; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the members of the Catholic Health Association of Texas as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
