R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The family and friends of Roman Rodriguez of Jourdanton were deeply saddened by the passing of this lifelong Atascosa County resident on July 2, 2004, at the age of 94; and WHEREAS, Born in Charlotte on August 9, 1909, Mr. Rodriguez married Carolina Cruz in 1931, and the couple moved to a property near what is now Pleasanton Airport, where they farmed until 1948; Mr. Rodriguez then moved his family to Jourdanton and worked for the American Legion Service Station before taking a position with the City of Jourdanton in the water and maintenance department; he later worked for Atascosa County, where he remained until his retirement; and WHEREAS, Mr. Rodriguez and his wife shared an enduring union that was blessed with two daughters and a son, and they welcomed each new addition to their extended family with great joy and pride; many of Mr. Rodriguez's happiest moments involved spending time with his family, barbecuing with his son, and delighting friends and neighbors with his many entertaining and enlightening stories about Jourdanton's history; and WHEREAS, Although this devoted family man is profoundly missed, his spirit lives on in the hearts of all those who were privileged to know him; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Roman Rodriguez and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his daughters, Esther Noriega, and her husband, Jesse, and Frances Rodriguez; to his son, Eliseo Rodriguez, and his wife, Melinda; to his sister, Consuelo Hernandez; to his nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Roman Rodriguez.
