R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Months of hard work and dedication are being rewarded on January 31, 2005, as members of Project CRAFT's graduating class receive their diplomas; and WHEREAS, Since its inception, Project CRAFT (Community, Reintegration, Apprenticeship-Focused Training) has provided youth in Dallas County with invaluable life and vocational skills that will help its participants prepare for careers in the home-building industry; and WHEREAS, This important program is made possible by SER-Jobs for Progress National, Inc., through a Youth Services grant endowed by WorkSource for Dallas County in partnership with Dallas County Youth Village, the Transition Resource Action Center, and Home Builders Institute, the education and training branch of the National Association of Home Builders; and WHEREAS, Throughout the six-month program offered twice a year, participants gain first-rate training in the construction trades, which culminates with both pre-apprenticeship certifications and job placement within the home-building industry; moreover, Project CRAFT students have access to an on-site GED or diploma program and workplace literacy and math classes; and WHEREAS, Project CRAFT not only benefits its enrolled youth but the community as well; two service projects are slated during each term, allowing students to give back to Dallas County while practicing their skills; and WHEREAS, Lauded by the U.S. Department of Labor and both houses of Congress, Project CRAFT has played a vital role in the lives of countless young Texans, and it is indeed a pleasure to recognize both the program and the current graduating class; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate the 2005 graduates of Project CRAFT and commend the organization on its service in behalf of Texas youth; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Project CRAFT as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
