H.R. No. 119
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, John M. Sangree of Boy Scouts of America Troop 40 in
Houston has met the demanding qualifications required of those
seeking the rank of Eagle Scout; and
WHEREAS, Receiving the Eagle Scout badge is a significant
honor, bestowed on only a fraction of those who enter the scouting
movement; a member of the Order of the Arrow, Mr. Sangree has earned
the requisite 21 merit badges, successfully completed a service
project to benefit the community, and served with distinction as
senior patrol leader of his troop; he also participated in the
demanding "Iron Man" backpacking trek at Philmont Scout Ranch; and
WHEREAS, This notable young man recently graduated in the top
10 of his class from St. Thomas High School, where he was president
of the drama club, conductor of the marching band, and a member of
the National Honor Society, the freshman football team, and the
tennis team; balancing his dedication to extracurricular pursuits
with a comparable commitment to scholarly endeavors, he has earned
a host of academic medals and scholarships and the prestigious
Principal's Achievement Award; and
WHEREAS, In addition to participating in scouting and school
activities, Mr. Sangree has volunteered his time to St. Rose of Lima
Catholic Church, teaching religious confirmation classes; and
WHEREAS, The rank of Eagle Scout is attained by few
individuals, and through his outstanding effort and commitment, Mr.
Sangree has proven himself worthy to join the ranks of scouting's
elite; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate John M. Sangree on attaining the
rank of Eagle Scout and extend to him sincere best wishes for
continued success and happiness; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Sangree as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
