R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The passing of Leon Percy Burrell has brought great
sadness to the family and friends of this esteemed educator, and it
is appropriate to honor his memory at this time; and
WHEREAS, A native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Mr. Burrell had
a positive effect on countless young minds during his 28-year
tenure with the Wilmer Hutchins Independent School District; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Burrell graduated from Scotlandville Senior
High School in 1966 and earned his undergraduate degree from
Southern University in Baton Rouge in 1971; he received a master's
degree from Prairie View A&M University in 1980; and
WHEREAS, Leon Percy Burrell was a man of compassion,
generosity, and integrity, and although he will be dearly missed by
all who knew him, his spirit will live on through his inspirational
legacy as an educator; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Leon Percy Burrell and
extend sincere sympathy to his family and many friends; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Leon Percy
Burrell.
