R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Thundering Hooves equestrian drill team of
Matagorda County has delighted audiences throughout the state with
its stunning performances of this unique form of family
entertainment; and
WHEREAS, Superior ability, outstanding determination, and
tremendous pride have been the hallmark of every team member,
including Erron Anderson, Kendra Cox, Amber Dale, Kalley Fikes,
Danica Finley, Paige Johnson, Amy Lee (leader), Courtney Leissner,
Amy Murphree, Kari Murphree, Jodi Richardson, Tiera Shipman, Amanda
Vecera, Beverly Vickrey, Marisa Vickrey (leader), and Alex Walker;
and
WHEREAS, Through the years, Thundering Hooves has attracted
many new fans with a host of stellar performances at such popular
events as the Texas Classic and Champion of Champions show, the
Texas Quarter Horse Association shows, the CPRA rodeo at Coushatta
in Kinder, Louisiana, and the Washington Mutual Thanksgiving Day
Parade in Houston; along the way, the group has earned a number of
prestigious accolades, including the declaration of July 24, 2004,
as Thundering Hooves Day in Bay City by Mayor Richard Knapik, a
second place win in the Matagorda County Rice Festival parade
band/drill team section, and first place honors in the Drill
Competition in 2003 and 2004; moreover, the team was named state
champions in 1996, 2002, 2003, and 2004, and United States
Equestrian Drill Competition National Champions in 2004; and
WHEREAS, The talented members of Thundering Hooves help to
promote our proud Western heritage and exemplify the true spirit of
Texas through their superb performances on horseback; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate the Thundering Hooves equestrian
drill team for its outstanding success and extend to all those
associated with the group sincere best wishes for continued good
fortune; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the Thundering Hooves as an expression of high regard
by the Texas House of Representatives.
