R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, February 2005 has been declared Financial Aid
Awareness Month, and an array of events has been scheduled
throughout the Lone Star State to not only illustrate the
importance of obtaining a college education, but also to emphasize
the myriad opportunities existing for students to attend college,
despite economic challenges; and
WHEREAS, Whether it be in the form of grants, scholarships,
work-study programs, loans, waivers, exemptions, or tax credits,
more than $3 billion in financial aid is available to Texas students
annually; and
WHEREAS, With college graduates earning perhaps $1 million
more in their lifetimes than persons possessing high school degrees
alone, a college education has become more important than ever; and
WHEREAS, By offering students and their families invaluable
information about attaining financial aid, all those associated
with Financial Aid Awareness Month are helping countless young
Texans achieve brighter and more rewarding futures; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby recognize February 2005 as Financial Aid
Awareness Month and commend all those involved with this event for
their exemplary efforts in behalf of Texas youth.
