H.R. No. 165
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The death of a young person is a blow that cannot be
softened by mere words, and we join those mourning the passing of
Waylon Sias, Jr.; and
WHEREAS, A native of Fort Worth, Mr. Sias was a 2002 graduate
of Marlin High School, where he was a valued member of the football,
basketball, and track teams; and
WHEREAS, He was also a talented musician, and his deft
drumming was a highlight not only of the drumline at Prairie View
A&M but also of performances by Ami Sias and the Family, the group
his mother led; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Sias served as a radio communications specialist
in the U.S. Army and was scheduled to deploy to Iraq in January
2005; he was also an active member of Marlin Missionary Baptist
Church and will be sorely missed by his fellow worshipers; and
WHEREAS, Although his youthful promise must remain
unfulfilled, his spirit will continue to shine on brightly in the
hearts of all who knew him; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Waylon Sias, Jr., and
extend sincere sympathy to his family members: to his daughter,
Jasmine Jordan; to his father, the Reverend Waylon D. Sias, Sr.; to
his mother, Ami L. Moore; to his sisters, Nicole, Sophie, and
Taushey Sias; to his brother, Darrin Mullen; to his grandmother,
Gracie Sias; to his fiancee, Angela Banks; and to his other family
members and many friends; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas House
of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Waylon
Sias, Jr.
