R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Jerry Retzloff of Live Oak County has been named Volunteer of the Year for 2005 by the Three Rivers Chamber of Commerce; and WHEREAS, For many years, Mr. Retzloff has given freely of his time, booking bands for the Brush Country Jamboree Music Show, a monthly event that raises scholarship money for local students; he also has helped to recruit musicians for the "Stars of the Brush Country Jamboree" at the annual Three Rivers Salsa Festival; and WHEREAS, In addition to these worthy endeavors, Mr. Retzloff has lent his talents to his church, Our Savior Lutheran Church, served as secretary of the Ray Point Community Center and the Ray Point Lutheran Cemetery Association, and served as a director of the El Oso Water Supply Corporation; and WHEREAS, This native Texan graduated from Texas A&M University and served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam; since 1994, he has been an accountant with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice's McConnell Unit prison in Beeville; and WHEREAS, With his generous spirit and readiness to serve, Jerry Retzloff has made a true difference in the lives of many residents of Live Oak County, and his dedication and compassion are an inspiration to all who know him; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby honor Jerry Retzloff on being named Volunteer of the Year for 2005 by the Three Rivers Chamber of Commerce and commend him for his efforts in behalf of his community; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Retzloff as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
