                                                                  H.R. No. 173



R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, Emilio Garza of Three Rivers has been named Elected 
Official of the Year for 2005 by the Three Rivers Chamber of 
Commerce, and he is most deserving of this notable award; and
	WHEREAS, The Precinct 4 commissioner, Mr. Garza received the 
award in recognition of his 18 years of dedicated service as a Live 
Oak County commissioner; he was honored at the chamber's annual 
awards and installation banquet at Three Rivers High School; and
	WHEREAS, Mr. Garza's exceptional record of civic leadership 
includes tenure as mayor pro tempore of the George West City Council 
from 1984 to 1986 and 17 years of service with the Selective Board 
System; he has also served 10 years on the Regional Review Board and 
20 years on the Texas Workforce Commission board; and
	WHEREAS, A native of Benavides, he served in the National 
Guard for six years and is the former owner of a service station in 
George West; he enjoys hunting and fishing when not occupied by his 
various family and civic obligations; and
	WHEREAS, Emilio Garza is a credit to his family, friends, and 
fellow citizens in Live Oak County, and it is a privilege to honor 
him on his selection as Elected Official of the Year for 2005; now, 
therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas 
Legislature hereby congratulate Emilio Garza on being named Elected 
Official of the Year by the Three Rivers Chamber of Commerce and 
extend to him best wishes for happiness and success in all his 
future endeavors; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for Mr. Garza as an expression of high regard by the Texas 
House of Representatives.
