R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The City of Bowie has been selected as a National Main Street City in recognition of its outstanding commitment to the development of its historic downtown area; and WHEREAS, Sponsored by the Texas Historical Commission and the National Trust for Historic Preservation, this honor is bestowed on cities that excel in 10 categories, with selection criteria focused on planning, staff and volunteers, preservation ethic, training, and program assessment; and WHEREAS, Bowie has earned National Main Street City status for the past five years; the designation rewards the industrious and resourceful Main Street Bowie for its efforts to strengthen the core of the city by addressing the program's four main principles: organization, promotion, design, and economic growth; and WHEREAS, The civic leaders of Bowie are justifiably proud of their town's latest accomplishment, and the Main Street Award demonstrates the exceptional leadership, vision, and volunteerism of local residents; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate the City of Bowie on its designation as a National Main Street City and commend all those involved for their vital efforts in behalf of the city.
