H.R. No. 193



R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, Freshman legislator Roy Blake, Jr., celebrated his 
49th birthday on February 5, 2005, and this noteworthy occasion 
offers a fitting opportunity to recognize this esteemed new member 
of the Texas House of Representatives; and
	WHEREAS, Representative Blake is a lifelong resident of 
Nacogdoches County, and his victory comes as no surprise to those 
who are familiar with the political career of his father, Roy Blake, 
Sr., who served in both the Texas House of Representatives and the 
Texas Senate; and
	WHEREAS, This fifth-generation East Texan is a graduate of 
Nacogdoches High School and Stephen F. Austin State University and 
earned his bachelor's degree in public administration; he and his 
wife, Jocelyn, are the owners and operators of Roy Blake Insurance 
Agency, Inc., and are active members of the First United Methodist 
Church of Nacogdoches; and
	WHEREAS, No stranger to holding public office, 
Representative Blake has twice served the citizens of Nacogdoches 
as mayor and is a former member of the Deep East Texas Council of 
Governments and the Alliance for I-69; he has also demonstrated his 
leadership skills as president of the United Way Board, chairman of 
the Nacogdoches County Chamber of Commerce, and president of the 
Deep East Texas Development Association; and
	WHEREAS, Supported in all of his endeavors by his wife and his 
three children, Franci, R. M., and Catherine, Representative Blake 
will undoubtedly serve the citizens of East Texas with the same 
integrity and enthusiasm with which he has undertaken all of life's 
challenges, and the members of this chamber are pleased to honor him 
as he celebrates his 49th birthday; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas 
Legislature hereby recognize the Honorable Roy Blake, Jr., on the 
occasion of his 49th birthday and extend to him best wishes for a 
happy and memorable year; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for Representative Blake as an expression of high regard 
from his colleagues in the Texas House of Representatives.
