R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, El Paso native Mona Loper has made many significant
contributions to the sport of bowling in her community; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Loper was born in 1912 in Bisbee, Arizona, but
moved soon thereafter to El Paso, where she has lived all her life;
a former professor at The University of Texas at El Paso, she
remains an avid UTEP fan and has been generous in donating her time
and energy to support its teams; and
WHEREAS, This remarkable 92-year-old El Pasoan has served as
president of El Paso Women's Bowling Association for 36 consecutive
years, and she has been a life member of the Women's International
Bowling Congress since 1972; Mrs. Loper has been inducted into the
El Paso Women's Association Hall of Fame as well as the Texas
Women's Bowling Hall of Fame, and her repute in the bowling world
has earned her an exemption from registration fees for all bowling
competitions; and
WHEREAS, A role model for bowlers everywhere, Mrs. Loper is
an inspiration to all who have been privileged to know her; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby recognize Mona Loper for her commitment to the
sport of bowling and the El Paso community and extend to her sincere
best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mrs. Loper as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
