R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Jim Swan of Sanger is being inducted into the
Retriever Hall of Fame on February 12, 2005, in a ceremony at the
National Bird Dog Museum in Grand Junction, Tennessee; and
WHEREAS, Three years after purchasing his first Labrador
retriever in 1965, Mr. Swan moved to Jonesboro, Tennessee, to
manage the Ripshin Kennel, where he qualified his first dog for the
Open National; in the spring of 1970, he moved his family to Lake
Dallas and built the Swan Kennel, which he relocated to Sanger 10
years later; and
WHEREAS, During his career, Mr. Swan has garnered an
impressive share of accolades in the retriever sport and has
competed in numerous Open Nationals; a world-class trainer and
breeder, he has titled many field champions and trained and
campaigned two Hall of Fame dogs, Trumarc's Raider and Volwood's
Ruff and Ready; and
WHEREAS, A distinguished member of his profession, Mr. Swan
has made numerous significant contributions to the field of
retriever breeding, training, and trials, and his influence will
continue to have a lasting effect on the sport; now, therefore, be
it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature hereby honor Jim Swan on his induction into the
Retriever Hall of Fame and extend to him sincere best wishes for
continued success and happiness; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Swan as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
