H.R. No. 220



R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, Dr. Rodolfo Alamia has been named by the American 
Diabetes Association (ADA)-Capital Area as its 2005 Patient 
Advocate; and
	WHEREAS, President of the Sweet Vida Medical Clinic, which is 
located on site at his private medical practice, Dr. Alamia is a 
certified diabetes educator and also a registered pharmacist; his 
dedication, expertise, and compassion fuel his multifaceted 
campaign to encourage diabetics to become better informed and more 
proactive in the management and treatment of their disease; and
	 WHEREAS, Dr. Alamia's notable efforts include such programs 
for the Latino community as Cinco de Mayo blood pressure 
screenings, a class about diabetes control during Lent, and classes 
about blood pressure awareness and how to prepare healthy 
traditional food; in addition, he reaches countless at-risk 
Austinites through programs in local schools and churches; and
	WHEREAS, Highly regarded by his colleagues, Dr. Alamia has 
served as president of the Hispanic Physicians Association since 
2001, chairs the ADA's Diabetes Sundays, a church-based outreach 
effort, and holds membership in the American Academy of Family 
Physicians and the Travis County ADA Council; and
	WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan and his wife, Paula, are the 
parents of two children, Stefan and Jacquelyn; and
	WHEREAS, Dr. Rodolfo Alamia has shown an unwavering 
commitment to promoting optimal health for his fellow Texans, and 
his exceptional work in behalf of diabetics is indeed deserving of 
recognition; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas 
Legislature hereby heartily congratulate Dr. Rodolfo Alamia on 
being named the 2005 Patient Advocate by the American Diabetes 
Association-Capital Area and extend to him best wishes for 
continued success in all his endeavors; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for Dr. Alamia as an expression of high regard by the Texas 
House of Representatives.
