H.R. No. 224


R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Fredda Medlock has deservedly been named Woman of the Year by the West Columbia Chamber of Commerce; and WHEREAS, This prestigious award was created to honor West Columbia citizens who have made a positive difference in the community, and Ms. Medlock is indeed a worthy recipient of this accolade for she is widely known as a willing volunteer who gives generously of her time and talents without expecting any recognition for her efforts; and WHEREAS, A reliable and enthusiastic presence at community meetings, Ms. Medlock serves as secretary of the Ambassador Club and has also contributed her time to the American Legion and its auxiliary and Central Emergency Medical Services; and WHEREAS, Her keen knowledge and love of history have informed her work with the Texas Federation of Women's Clubs-Historical Foundation; moreover, she has participated in Austin Town, volunteered with the Columbia Historical Museum, and served as a docent for the Varner-Hogg Plantation State Historic Site, where she has helped others gain a greater appreciation of the rich heritage of Brazoria County; and WHEREAS, This notable woman has also left an indelible mark on the lives of countless young people as a youth leader at Columbia Methodist Church and on innumerable older residents through her tireless volunteer work in behalf of area senior citizens; and WHEREAS, Through her public-spiritedness Fredda Medlock has truly made West Columbia a better place in which to live, and her service makes her an inspiring role model and goodwill ambassador for her community; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Fredda Medlock on being named the West Columbia Chamber of Commerce Woman of the Year and commend this remarkable woman for her many charitable endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Medlock as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
