R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Family and friends deeply mourn the passing of Edmund Reynolds Wood of Dallas, who died on December 10, 2004; and WHEREAS, After graduating from Southern Methodist University and the University of Houston School of Law, Mr. Wood joined his father's law firm; he earned a reputation for being a talented real estate trial attorney, serving for many years as general counsel for Stewart Title Guaranty Company for the Northern Region of Texas; and WHEREAS, Mr. Wood was active in politics and served as the first campaign chairman for Senator O. H. "Ike" Harris, championing him through many reelection campaigns; furthermore, he was appointed by Governor Dolph Briscoe to the Texas Commission for Uniform State Laws, which he served for 16 years; and WHEREAS, An energetic and valued member of his community, Mr. Wood, who was captain of his high school golf team, was a popular member of the Lakewood Country Club; it was there that he helped to found the Lady Mustang Golf Tournament; also an excellent cook, Mr. Wood won a number of blue ribbons for his culinary skills at the State Fair of Texas; and WHEREAS, Devoted family man, distinguished attorney, and cherished friend, Edmund Reynolds Wood was known for his genuine kindness and clever sense of humor; he left an indelible imprint on the lives of all who were fortunate enough to have known him, and he will not soon be forgotten; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Edmund Reynolds Wood and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his beloved wife of 39 years, Linda Sharrock Wood; to his two sons, Barry Burke Wood and Mark Sharrock Wood; and to his other relatives and many friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Edmund Reynolds Wood.
