R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Senior Corporal Lance Crawford of the Dallas Police Department was named the 2004 Cops' Cop at a special awards ceremony hosted by the Dallas Police Association on January 22, 2004; and WHEREAS, The Dallas Police Association Cops' Cop program honors the finest police officers in Dallas; in recognition of their integrity, skill, and talent, a monthly award is given to officers for outstanding service to the community, both on and off duty; each year, the 12 monthly winners are honored and a Cops' Cop of the Year is selected; and WHEREAS, Assigned to the Northwest Operations Division first watch, Senior Corporal Crawford was nominated for this prestigious award for his sterling work ethic and his unfaltering devotion to the department, his colleagues, and the citizens of Dallas; and WHEREAS, Senior Corporal Crawford began his notable 16-year tenure with the department working in third watch, and he has also served with the Northwest Division bike and Interactive Community Policing units; throughout his career he has readily responded above and beyond the call of duty, bravely risking his life on many occasions in the pursuit of justice and preservation of the public's safety; and WHEREAS, In addition to his most recent honor, Senior Corporal Crawford has been named the Bachman Community Officer of the Year and received a remarkable 64 commendations; and WHEREAS, Senior Corporal Crawford is also a source of pride to his family, which includes his wife and fellow officer Kim Crawford, and his children, Ty and Kelly; and WHEREAS, Embodying the highest ideals of the law enforcement profession, Lance Crawford has made the city of Dallas a safer place in which to live and earned the lasting admiration of his peers; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Senior Corporal Lance Crawford on his receipt of the 2004 Cops' Cop award and commend him for his exemplary service in behalf of his fellow Texans; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Senior Corporal Crawford as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
